In Malawi, most teams, from the lower leagues up to the super league do not insure their players, for various reasons. However, with most teams, it is due to lack of sponsorship. Teams do not have enough money to insure their players against body injuries or even loss of life. Players may also suffer from various diseases while they are still on contract with different teams.

Since these events are unplanned, players face various challenges when it comes to settling medical bills, or in some cases when seeking specialist treatment from outside the country.

The foundation will therefore shall embark on a program that shall see FAM putting in place regulation that shall force all clubs to insure their players are insured against any eventualities and also put on pension schemes.
